I have been thinking about what Valentine design I could share that would be easy for anyone to do. I also wanted to play around with doing all of my fingers into glitter nails since I am limited on Shellac colors. I love doing Shellac on my nails because then I don’t have to worry about my nails chipping or lifting for 2 weeks. The problem with that is, Shellac polish is $16 a bottle so I am very limited on my color choices and I haven’t been able to find any glitter polishes. Well I am happy to share that I used a Shellac polish and did a light dusting of glitter to create a new color and it worked wonderful! This simple design will catch everyone’s eye, from the sparkle all the way to the white accent nail. Note: I will be providing instructions on how to achieve this look with plain polish, along with Shellac.

Step 1: Prep Nails

Step 2: Paint Nails

Paint 2 coats of pink (Shellac Hot Chilis) to all your nails, except your ringer finger. Paint your ring finger white (Shellac Cream Puff).

Shellac: Apply one coat pink and white polish. Cure 2 minutes in the CND light. Apply second coat of pink and white polish. Cure again for 2 minutes in the CND light.

Step 3: Dust Glitter

While the nail polish is still wet gently dust a fine layer of pink glitter to the pink polish. I used Martha Stewart craft glitter, color tourmaline. Note: Don’t get any glitter on the white polish!

Shellac: Once polish is cured it will still have that sticky finish on all the nails. Remove the sticky residue from the white nail only so that no glitter will adhere to it. Dust all the pink nails with the glitter.

Step 4: Apply Top Coat

Apply a health top coat to all the pink nails.

Shellac: Apply top coat. Cure in the CND light for 2 minutes.

Step 5: Glitter Heart

Pick up some top coat on a toothpick and paint a heart on the white nail (picture below shows the easiest, best way to paint a polish heart.) Dust the heart with pink glitter. Once it is fully dried wash hands.

Step 6: Apply Top Coat

Apply a health top coat to the white/heart nail once it is fully dried and all loose glitter has been washed away.

Shellac: Apply top coat to white nail. Cure in the CND light for 2 minutes.

Step 7: Allow to Dry, Wash and Apply Cuticle Oil

Allow your polish to dry completely. Wash off the excess glitter. Then apply a cuticle oil just around your nails on the cuticle and rub into the skin. If once dry, you have a sharp glitter edge just use a gentle grit nail file to file the end. This will smooth the edge, but make sure the nails are COMPLETELY dry.

Shellac: Remove sticky residue on top of nails with a little polish remover. Wash nails and apply cuticle oil.

Note: Gel polish needs to be removed after 2-3 weeks, check out Gel Polish Removal for the quickest, easiest and best way to remove gels.
