It must be getting closer to the holidays because we always seem to get sick around that time. In the last month, we sure have had more than our fair share of illnesses. We have gone from simple colds all the way to croup, stomach flu and ear infections. My 2 year old, Jace, is the one who had ear infections and was on an antibiotic. Whenever anyone in my family is put on an antibiotic I quickly make a medicine tracker on the bottom or side of the bottle. This way, I don’t need to try and remember if I gave all the doses for that day. It also keeps track how many days I have been giving the antibiotic.
Begin by figuring out how many days you will be taking the antibiotic (for Jace it was 10 days). Then write on the bottle, with a magic marker, on a sticker-free part those 10 days. Put little boxes next to each day of how many times a day it needs to be taken (Jace was twice a day). Note: This doesn’t need to look fancy in anyway, remember this is just to help you keep track if the medicine has been taken for each dose. Then it just gets thrown in the garbage after the 10 days.
After each dose fill in the designated box.
I hope this has helped make your life a little easier when you have sick kids or are sick yourself. No more racking your brain to remember if you took your medicine that day.
