Become the trendsetter. Who doesn’t love to change up the current style just a bit to add your own flare? Instead of doing chevron stripes the standard direction, put them at an angle to add your own customized touch and before you know it all your friends will be doing the same. You will become the nail design trendsetter. Note: I will be providing instructions on how to achieve this look with plain polish, along with Shellac.
Step 1: Prep Nails
View my post on Nail Polish Prep.
Step 2: Paint Nails
Paint your ring finger white (Shellac Cream Puff). Paint your other nails with a health amount of top coat.
Shellac: Apply one coat white polish. Cure 2 minutes in the CND light. Apply second coat of white polish and a health amount of top coat on all the other nails, but DO NOT cure yet.
Step 3: Apply Glitter
While the top coat polish is wet apply purple (charoite) craft glitter, just as you would to do glitter toes. I used Martha Stewart craft glitter. Note: Don’t get any glitter on the white polish!
Shellac: Dust all the top coat nails with the glitter. Cure 2 minutes in the CND light.
Step 4: Apply Top Coat
Apply a health top coat to all the glitter nails.
Shellac: Apply top coat. Cure in the CND light for 2 minutes. Remove sticky residue from all the nails.
Step 5: Chevron Stripes
Paint or stamp your ring finger nails with chevrons at an angle. I used the Mash #45 stamping plate. (Buy on Amazon – Mash Bundle Pack or Mash #45 ). I used the konad black polish for stamping. Once stamped apply top coat to the stamped finger nails. Note: If you haven’t ever seen nail stamping or need to know how, check out this page on Nail Stamping.
Shellac: Stamp ring fingers. Apply top coat to ring fingers. Cure 2 minutes in CND light.
Step 6: Allow to Dry, Wash and Apply Cuticle Oil
Allow your polish to dry completely. Wash off the excess glitter. Then apply a cuticle oil just around your nails on the cuticle and rub into the skin. If once dry, you have a sharp glitter edge just use a gentle grit nail file to file the end. This will smooth the edge, but make sure the nails are COMPLETELY dry.
Shellac: Remove sticky residue on top of nails with a little polish remover. Wash nails and apply cuticle oil.
Note: Gel polish needs to be removed after 2-3 weeks, check out Gel Polish Removal for the quickest, easiest and best way to remove gels.
