For the last 3-4 weeks, I have a had a terrible summer cold with a hoarse voice that resulted in a sinus infection and an ear infection. To say the least, I have felt miserable. In order to make my hoarse, whisper of a voice feel slightly better I made an orange julius almost every morning to pair with our breakfast. My oldest son {4 years old} now thinks that every breakfast should have an orange julius with it. I’m happy to accommodate his pleading, most days, since it’s full of Vitamin C and very easy to whip together.
Orange Julius
Ingredients
- 6 oz Orange Juice concentrate, half of a regular size
- 1-1/2 cups Milk
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1/3 cup Sugar
- 20-25 Ice Cubes
Directions
Scoop out half of a can of {frozen} orange juice concentrate and place into blender. Add milk, water and sugar to blender. Blend until smooth.
Add ice cubes and blend until smoothy texture. Enjoy.
If you have a great blender, just throw in everything all at the same time and blend together. Our blender isn’t doing well so I do mine in two different steps. We have also been known to throw in a few pieces of frozen {or fresh} fruit with our orange julius. Such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, bananas, etc. Be creative and please share in the comments what combinations you love creating at your home so we can try them as well. Enjoy!
Note: Pictured is a regular orange, strawberry-banana, and a blueberry. We don’t add any extra sugar when we throw in other fruits.
I like to add a titch of vanilla to my orange julius. I think it gives it that little something extra. You should give it a go.
I remember growing up with a little vanilla in our orange julius and I LOVED it, but recently I have preferred it without. Thanks for the tip.
