This recipe is from my sister, Alison’s collection of recipes. It is the most delicious oatmeal cereal recipe you will ever try! My 2 year old, Jace, loves to eat warm cereal for breakfast so we make this recipe quite a bit. We always have fresh bananas and frozen raspberries, from my in-laws garden, on hand so that is what we usually put on top. On a special occasion we have fresh blackberries or blueberries. Whatever you have fresh or frozen will be delicious on this oatmeal. You don’t have to put fruit on top, but I personally like it best with the fruit.
Amish Baked Oatmeal
Ingredients
- 1 – 1/2 cups Oats
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 1/4 cup Butter, melted
- 1 Egg
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 3/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon Nutmeg
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Hand mix together all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Spread into a greased 8×8 baking dish*.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Immediately spoon into bowls and add warm milk and fresh fruit over the top. Warm milk is a must! Cold milk doesn’t make it taste as yummy, for some reason.
*Note: Double the recipe for a 9×13 baking dish.
