Silver Splash

Silver Splash

Whenever it comes to nails, I have noticed that very few people are confident with painting a nail design on to their own nails. So I wanted to come up with another nail design that is easy for anyone to do. A couple of other easy designs I have done involved just adding a jewel to every nail while painting the ring finger glittery (baby, it’s cold outside) or even just painting a stripe of a color by applying tape to your nail as a guide (rich and famous). This design is kind of a combination of the two. I used tape as a guide, as in rich and famous, and I added a splash of glitter to the ring finger, as in baby it’s cold outside. Here is how I did it. . . Note: I will be providing instructions on how to achieve this look with plain polish, along with Gel Polish.Silver Splash

Step 1: Prep Nails

Step 2: Paint Nails Turquoise

Paint all your nails with two coats of blue/turquoise polish. I used the Gelish color called My Favorite Accessory.

Gel Polish: Apply one coat turquoise polish. Cure 2 minutes in the UV light. Apply second coat of turquoise polish. Cure again for 2 minutes in the UV light.

Step 3: Paint Ring Finger

Your ring finger already has the turquoise painted on it. Now add tape at an angle. Paint the area taped off with a white polish. Remove tape and let polish dry.Once white polish is dry, add tape going the other direction and paint with clear polish. Sprinkle with silver glitter as you would to do for a glitter nail. Remove tape and let dry.

Gel Polish: Paint white with regular polish or with gel polish. If using gel make sure to cure in the light. Paint clear gel polish and sprinkle glitter. Remove tape and cure in UV light for 2 minutes. Wash off excess glitter.

Step 4: Apply Top Coat

Now apply your top coat. Make sure the paint is completely dry before adding top coat.

Gel Polish: Apply top coat to all the nails and cure in UV light for 2 minutes.

Step 5: Allow to Dry and Apply Cuticle Oil

Allow your polish to dry completely. Apply a cuticle oil just around your nails on the cuticle and rub into the skin.

Gel Polish: Remove sticky residue on top of nails with a little alcohol or polish remover and apply cuticle oil.

Note: This design that I have come up with is perfect for those recently engaged, married or even for those of us who have been married for quite sometime. The splash of silver on the ring finger really makes the white gold wedding ring pop on the finger. I suggest adding gold polish if you have a gold wedding ring. Enjoy!
